This is the best book I have found for anyone wanting to find out about multiracial identity formation through the childhood years as well as resources for supporting the healthy development of children of mixed heritage. In addition to the topic of multiracial individuals transnational adoption issues are also covered. This book has a nice format in that the articles are academic in nature, but they are still fairly accessible to the non-academic wanting to find out more about mixed race issues. Another thing that I really like about this book is the fact that they deal explicitly with different mixes of ethnicities, not just white and other mixes, and they talk about what some of the different experiences and issues that are unique to each type of mix. What this does for the reader is solidify the idea that all mixed race people do not have the same experiences, and begins to show the reader the possibility of mixes that people can be, thus broadening the playing field from a dichotomous ideal of mixed race. There is also a very good resource guide in the back of the book which includes books for young children, teens, adults, as well as film and video resources.
